Hi, Hugo. This was in a publication. Publications are really great, but not always a guarantee for anything. I've had curated articles on big publications that I thought would do well, and ended up doing nothing.

At the same time, I've self-published articles that have been discovered that really took off. It all comes down to the quality of the article so just keep putting out good stuff--on a variety of subjects--and Medium (and other publications) will still find them if you self publish.

If you're just starting out, write often, self publish, and I would look to publish in smaller publications, too. It's a good way to help them grow, and get more views and followers for yourself.
